BEWITCH-CRAFTING Layout

BEWITCH-CRAFTING on Lake Moraine in the Fall!

Bring on the Witches!

I created this two page layout specifically for a Retreat that I am honored to be invited to vend at. Instead of table favors, I offered to create a photo booth for the hostess, Nichole. With that in mind, I wanted to feature the memory keepers themselves enjoying the weekend with their crafty friends. Too often we don't include ourselves in our scrapbook memories.
Techniques I used:
Dry Embossing and Wet Debossing with the CTMH Rose Embossing Folder
Ink Splatting with CTMH Spray Pens and Reinkers

Supplies I used are all CTMH except the witch hat image:

Techniques: Dry Embossing with the Rose Embossing Folder.
Wet Debossing with Inks: Use a Black Ink Pad, Rose Embossing Folder, and a Rubber Brayer. Coat Brayer with Black Ink from stamp pad and cover the inside of your Embossing Folder that is RAISED. Place paper on the UN-Inked side, close the Inked top and run it through your Cuttlebug or BigShot as normal. CAREFULLY remove your Debossed piece of paper as not to smear leftover ink from the top. Repeat for additional pieces.

Witch Hat Gallery CTMH Papercrafting Style

Oh My! "Witch" Hat to Wear Today?

What could be better than a Witch Hat Gallery?

Instead of table favors, I offered to create a photo booth for my lovely Retreat Hostess, Nichole, at We B Scrappin's White Eagle Fall Retreat. She decided on a Halloween theme much to my pure excitement! What a great opportunity for me to craft CTMH's President and Founder, Jeanette Lynton's, paper Witch Hats. Boy did I run with this and had so much fun. They are sure to be put on display right on my fireplace mantel for years to come.

All materials are CTMH past and present Halloween papers. Want to make your own? Here is Jeanette's Blog entry giving the instructions: Jeanette Lynton Paper Witch Hat Tutorial
I used my CTMH Cricut cartridges pretty heavily for these hats. Our Cricut Collections are superior on the market offering a font on every cartridge, above average number of images, wonderful image variety. The value is incredible. You can see our collections here:

I hope you are BeWitchingly Inspired!

Technique: Epsom Salts + Ink + Water = Pretty Feathers and Leaves

"Wild At Heart"

New technique and beautiful Stamp of the Month, You Are Blessed

What can be better than that?

I absolutely love September's Constant Campaign, From The Heart, shown in my previous blog entry, and September's Stamp of the Month, You Are Blessed.
You know I am picky so this doesn't always happen in the same month.
To celebrate, I'm sharing a technique to feature colorful feathers and leaves on a
Scrapbook Page I created using the Stamp of the Month.
I used Watercolor Paper, my Stamp Pads (Lagoon, Raspberry, and Pansy), the Medium Round Watercolor Brush, and some Epsom Salts. You can also use Kosher salt.
Squeeze the lid of your ink pad into the pad so that when you open it you have a nice amount of ink on the inside of the lid. You will pick up this "Lid Ink" with your watercolor brush using the lid as a palette. Brush each of your watercolor paper feathers and leaves with the intensity you like keeping in mind they will lighten up as you add water and the salts. Once all of your pieces are painted, squeeze a nice amount of water on your items so that a bit of "pooling" occurs. Add your salt to these "pooled" areas and let them dry overnight. Brush the salt off once dry. The salt will have pick up some of the ink color creating a pretty speckled effect. Use this technique for smaller items like these or as a larger background to your page or card.
Featured CTMH Products Used:
Ink Pads: Lagoon, Raspberry, Pansy, and Black Archival
Paper: White Daisy, Lagoon, Pansy, Black and Silver and Gold Paper Kit

From The Heart Double Stamp Set In Action

September Constant Campaign

From The Heart

Double Stamp Set

Needing a bunch of thank you cards to include with my downsizing efforts on *Poshmark,
I turned to the September Constant Campaign, From The Heart, double stamp set. I created a nice supply of 3x3 Thank You cards using this beautiful set. Don't be afraid to cut your stamps to make them what you want. You can simply "put them back together" right on your block.  I cut the flower on the front of my cards off from the sentiment so that I could cut, color and pop them on the front of the cards. I just need to add it to the bottom of the sentiment on my block to bring it back to the original.  This gorgeous stamp set is available only in September. You can get it HERE. Remember it is a Double!

Supplies Used: ShinHan Markers, Memento Archival Black Ink, and Foam Tape

*Curious what Poshmark is? It's a mobile app. where you can sell your unwanted clothing and accessories. It's easy to use, and I've been able to "downsize" some of my nicer clothing and accessories at 80% vs. 50% at consignment. Check it out if you are curious. Altered Camping Composition Notebook

Camper's Journal

.50 Cent Style

Camping with three big dogs can get a bit "harry" if you know what I mean.
I wanted an inexpensive journal to keep with the camper to write down notes for the campsites we visit. This way when planning for future visits, we know firsthand the pros and cons of each park and the best sites for our needs.
That said, we need privacy, water access, and a medium size site.
Who wants to be next to the couple with three big dogs, right?
And, water access has to be just right. Too much access and we have wet dogs the entire time. Too little access, and the puppies are not swimming.

Enough about the dogs, let's get to the ART!
Take a $.50 cent Composition Notebook since this book will take a beating and
add some awesome Images from Cricut "You Are Here" Collection.
Papers are Jack and Thin Cuts and Stamps are Jack Cardmaking.
The bears are die cut from birch bark I found on the ground while camping.
I left quite a bit uncovered because I liked the insides of the covers.

The back looked great too with just an ADK "sticker" slapped on the back.
Coordinating Pen created by pulling off end and adding some rolled Jack paper.

If you love the Jack Paper Kit and Thin Cut Dies and Stamp Set,
be sure to visit my Shopping Site before August 31, 2017. They will be retiring.

Cuttlebug in the Adirondacks

Cuttlebug in the Adirondacks

Rain during camping = Crafting opportunities

I brought my Cuttlebug Embossing/Die Cut machine to actually try cutting felt bears using the Jack Cardmaking Stamp and Thin Cuts. Verdict?  Yes, it worked.
Just use a very thin shim with your B and C plates. I used a paper napkin.
I was surrounded by White and Grey Birch Trees in this campground, Rollins Pond. I love the bark on these trees and was inspired to try the Dies on fallen birch bark. Verdict?
Take a look for yourself:
Here is what I did with some of my "Birch Bears":

Raspberries In My Belly!

The little pesky seeds are worth the bright burst of sweet freshness from a beautiful raspberry!  These jewels grow in my garden as I am a true red and blue
berry picker from way back.  I used to steal them from a neighbor's bushes
when I was too young to know that someone actually owned them.
I swore this year I would not let any of my raspberries go to waste which meant that I needed to use them within a few days of picking. Not in the mood for making jam this year,
I opted for some baked goods that would freeze well.

Enter the Lemon Raspberry Muffin recipe into my life that I scored off of Pinterest.
It is a true 5 Star Recipe y'all and now has a place in my recipe archives.
They are light, fluffy, moist, tops just a bit crispy, perfect sweetness without being too sweet, and just the right punch from the raspberries.  One hour to make two batches which yielded a total of 24 regular size muffins and 6 extra large muffins.

Here you go. (You're welcome ;)
Thank you so much, Lauren!

My Modifications:
*I didn't use the glaze as I tried them before and loved them just the way they were.
*Increase Raspberries to 2 cups
*I used Silk instead of Milk
*Reduced temp. to 380 and cooked 16 mins. (I have convection)
*Made 12 then added semi sweet choc chips to remainder of batter to make 3 extra large Lemon Rasp. choc. Chip Muffins. (cooked large 20 mins)

Ingredients
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs , lightly beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp grated lemon zest
  • 1/2 cup oil canola or vegetable
  • 1 1/2 cups raspberries (fresh or frozen)
For the glaze:
  • 1 cup confectioners sugar
  • 2-3 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
In a measuring cup mix together milk and lemon juice. In a separate large bowl combine dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. In another bowl, mix eggs, oil, lemon zest, and the milk/lemon mixture. Stir the wet ingredients into the flour mixture, stirring just until moistened. Fold in the raspberries.
  3. Line a muffin tin with liners, or grease it well with cooking spray. Fill 15-18 muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake at 400 degrees F for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with few crumbs.
For the glaze:
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the confectioners sugar and 2 tablespoons lemon juice. (if you want the glaze even thinner, add an extra tablespoon of lemon juice). Allow the muffins to cool for a few minutes before drizzling with glaze.
